Therapy Dogs of South Florida Inc, is truly Making A Difference. Mr. Tom DeCicco and his programs consist of Animal Assisted Activities, Animal Assisted Therapy, Animal Assisted Crisis Response and Children Reading to Dogs. Therapy Dogs of South Florida is a full-time not-for-profit therapy dog program which provide opportunities for emotional support, motivation, educational, and/or therapeutic benefits to enhance the quality of a patient's or student's life. Therapy Dogs of South Florida Inc., formerly Pet Therapy of South Florida Inc, was founded by Mr. Tom DeCicco in November 2002, and is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Harris, a golden retriever, and Kuda, a black lab/golden retriever cross recently joined the team and both have successfully graduated through their therapy dog training. Tom, Jill Williams and their therapy dogs work full-time, with Tom making everyday visits to the Boca Raton Regional Hospital and Jill at Indian Ridge School. Earlier this year, Mr. DeCicco and his therapy dogs Charley, Kelly & Harris worked extra hard at Grandview Preparatory School in Boca Raton helping a select group of LS students with the Pride Paw Pal Reading program. At Indian Ridge School in Palm Beach County, therapy dog Kuda and owner/hander Jill Williams, a speech/language pathologist, continue working hard helping with speech and language impaired students. Students are benefiting through higher fluency, comprehension reading levels and improved social skills. Congratulation to the therapy dog teams for receiving Wachovia Bank 2010 "Community Service Award". Royal Palm Beach Elementary named Mr. Tom DeCicco "Volunteer of the Year" for the 2006/2007 school year. In 2004, Mr. DeCicco received a Deerfield Beach Chamber of Commerce "Volunteer of the Year" award. Therapy dogs Rusty, Charley, Kelly & Harris had the honor to carry out the ceremonial first pitch at the Florida Marlins "Bark at the Park" baseball games for five years in a row. Tom and his therapy dogs have received numerous Certificate Of Appreciation acknowledgements thoughout the years and have been featured on television, Boca Raton Observer Magazine(May 2011 issue)and in many area newspapers. Tom's goal for 2012, is to continue his non-profit volunteer program full-time and to dedicate himself in "Making A Difference" to adults and students with our five very special therapy animals named Kelly, Kuda, Charley, Harris & Casey.
